Jimmy Fallon update


Richard Ashcroft is scheduled to perform "Are You Ready," on NBC-TV's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" on March 22. He'll be backed by The Roots, who serve as the show's house band. He will also perform a yet-to-be-announced second track that will run exclusively on www.latenightwithjimmyfallon.com.

    In their The Things They Say column, Contact Music recently posted this quote from Richard Ashcroft regarding The Verve's reunion in 2008: "Put four people in a petri dish, stir them up, and the results will always be the same... I thought that perhaps age would have mellowed us, but I was wrong."

    Adjustment Bureau soundtrack details


    Relativity Music Group has announced a soundtrack album for the upcoming sci-fi romance thriller The Adjustment Bureau. The album includes Thomas Newman’s original score from the film, as well as the song The Future’s Bright, which was written for the film by Newman and singer/songwriter Richard Ashcroft (former frontman of The Verve). The album will be released on March 1, 2011. The Adjustment Bureau hits U.S. theaters on March 4, 2011.

    New song on the Jimmy Fallon show?

    The Verve frontman returns to the States after a three-year absence for two shows on the East Coast.

    Richard Ashcroft’s first solo album in four years – United Nation Of Sound – drops March 22 on Razor & Tie. In celebration of the new release, Ashcroft will appear on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” the evening of the album’s arrival. He’ll perform his new single, “Are You Ready?” with the show’s house band, The Roots, and a new song that will appear exclusively on the late night talk show.

    Along with the TV appearance, Ashcroft has lined up a couple of East Coast gigs, playing New York City’s Bowery Ballroom March 23 followed by a performance at Boston’s Villa Victoria Center For The Arts March 24 as part of the Jim Beam Live Music Series. The dates mark the first time Ashcroft has performed in the United States since 2008.

    Note: Richard Ashcroft also performed "This Thing Called Life" on the Jimmy Fallon show. The Adjustment Bureau opens in March and features "Future's Bright."

    Live dates, album release, and "Future's Bright"


    United States album release

    On March 22, Razor & Tie will release Richard Ashcroft's United Nations of Sound album in the United States.

    US shows announced

    That same night, Ashcroft will appear on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show in New York City performing "Are You Ready?" followed by a yet-to-be announced second track to appear exclusively on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show website. The Roots will appear as a backing band.

    Ashcroft's track "Are You Ready?" will be featured in the closing credits to the upcoming Matt Damon film, The Adjustment Bureau, out in March.  A second track, "Future's Bright," which is co-written by Ashcroft and ten-time Academy Award nominee Thomas Newman, will be featured within the film as well.

    Richard Ashcroft heading for the US?

    The Bowery Ballroom in New York City has listed a Richard Ashcroft show for next month, March 23. Link here. Tickets are believed to go on sale Friday, February 18 at 12:00 PM. No official word yet but stay tuned. Thanks to Jesse for the heads up.
