'Glastonbury The Movie In Flashback' premieres in London

The film featured The Verve's first ever festival performance.

The world premiere of Glastonbury The Movie In Flashback took place two days ago (June 23) at the Cine Lumiere in London.

The film, which is a re-working of the 1996 feature film Glastonbury The Movie, features footage of festival goers and bands who took part in the festival in 1993.

Director Robin Mahoney said that the movie focuses on "The ups, downs, freak outs and of course the bands" that made Glastonbury. Footage of the bands featured in the film include Spiritualized, The Lemonheads, Stereo MCs, The Orb as well as The Verve's first ever festival performance, who were so unknown at the time that they hadn’t secured backstage camping.

As Glastonbury festival is not taking place this year, Mahoney's intention was to show the audience that "Glastonbury still retains that original spirit", deciding to showcase the movie now as the festival would normally take place around this time of the year.

Glastonbury The Movie In Flashback will be in cinemas starting from June 29th at Prince Charles, Leicester Square in London with a Q&A and special guests, Alex Paterson (The Orb) & Stereo MCs. While registration is open now for next summer's Glastonbury Festival, which will take place Wednesday June 26 to Sunday June 30 2013, tickets will go on-sale in October 2012.

The Verve's Richard Ashcroft plots solo return

Richard Ashcroft says he has started work a new solo album. "It's easy for me to drift into two or three years of doing nothing," admits the former Verve man. "I was in the studio last week with Pete from The Verve... we put down 25 ideas in two days which was fantastic. I've gone full circle, I'm back with my guitar, really stripping it down, writing good songs."

The Verve 'info' website now hosted on The Verve Live

The Verve Live is pleased to announce the return of the-verve.info website.

Launched in February 2002, the-verve.info was a popular site with an active following, and included a wealth of information on The Verve, with pictures, bootleg covers, a forum, band gigography, fan contributions and more.

Unfortunately, the site went offline in 2007, but in November 2009, The Verve Live acquired the-verve.info with the intention of hosting it, so that fans would be able to enjoy the website's content once again.

Aside from a few aesthetic changes made to update the pages and reflect the change of ownership, the site remains as it would have been under the original owners.

Richard Ashcroft: New Album to Be "Song Orientated"

Ahead of his performance at Hop Farm later this month the singer has been updating Xfm on his solo stuff...

The former Verve frontman admitted to us that he's hoping to release a new solo album before the end of the year.

"I'm hoping it to be quite a quick process," he explained. "Hoping to go in with all the songs written, everything mapped out and go for performances and make it quite a stripped down, song orientated record really."

Richard Ashcroft plays Hop Farm Festival in Kent at the end of this month and told us he's looking forward to his first time there.

"I've never been to Hop Farm but it just seems a lot of the bull has been cut out of it," he told admitted.

"I've just been sorting out a small band for it. I'm gonna get Pete - who's been in the Verve with me from the start - I'm getting a great guy over from America playing guitar. I'm just getting it together a little idea of what I'm doing."

He's playing the Sunday night of the non-corporate festival in Kent - ahead of headliners Suede.
