Davide Rossi explains how he came to meet Nick McCabe and was later asked to join the "Forth" recording sessions after a chance meeting at a London studio:
"I met Nick McCabe, Verve guitarist, almost by accident, outside a London studio where I was producing an Italian band (Hana-b) in January 2008. Speaking of this and that, Nick asked me to play on their album. Even then, what must be a simple session of fun has become a true collaboration: an album with Verve, "Forth" (2008) and several appearances in their live show as headliners of the major European festivals."
What are your future plans?
"Right now I'm in London to work with Coldplay on their upcoming album. Among other commitments are the Black Ships, my first real band and the tour with Goldfrapp. In short, I hope to survive the 2010!"
Rossi also mentioned on his twitter page that McCabe has been laying down guitar and adding further treatment to The Black Ships recordings.

Former Verve guitarist returns with Erland And The Carnival.
Erland is Erland Cooper, guitarist, singer and former resident of remote Orkney. The Carnival are guitarist Simon Tong (The Verve, The Good, The Bad, The Queen) and drummer David Nock (Paul McCartney’s The Fireman).
Together, they make a pastoral, psychedelic sound described by Tong as “Pentangle meets Ennio Morricone meets Love meets 13th Floor Elevators meets Joe Meek.” In other words it’s folk-tinged, psyched up, fuzzed-out music.
Their self-titled debut album was recorded at Studio 13 (owned by Tong’s The Good, The Bad, The Queen band mate Damon Albarn), overdubbed in Simon’s attic and Erland’s shed and mixed at the garden studio owned by renowned producer Youth. Keys/harmonium player Andy Bruce, vocalist Georgia Sands and bassist Danny Wheeler also appear.

A release date of 29 March has been confirmed for the record entitled 'Redemption.'
It marks the first release of new music from Ashcroft after The Verve officially split for the third time in 2009.
The four original members of the Wigan band returned for a tempestuous reunion in 2007, recording album 'Forth' and headlining festivals like Glastonbury and T In The Park.

Jay-Z 'D.O.A.' Producer Collaborates With The Verve's Richard Ashcroft
Chicago's No I.D. is known for producing some of hip-hop's biggest records, Jay-Z's "D.O.A. (Death Of Auto-tune)," Kanye West's "Heartless," and the Common's classic "I Used To Love Her." But his repertoire is about to expand.
No I.D. is finishing up working on his first major rock collaboration. He teamed up with Richard Ashcroft, the frontman of the English band The Verve, to produce his entire upcoming fourth solo album.
The album is not a traditional rock record. "It's like a gumbo fusion, it's stuff on there like the Blues," NO I.D. told Yahoo! Music. "There is a little more aggressive drums than your average rock album. It is coming out in April."
Working with Ashcroft gave NO I.D. an opportunity to explore ideas he was not able to produce with rappers. "There were melodies that a rapper can't translate into a great song, but maybe a rock perspective teaches you melodies that you don't consider."
They made nearly 30 songs and narrowed them down to 12 to 14. NO I.D., who has also worked with Janet, Alicia Keys, and Usher, describes his music with Ashcroft as some of his best work.
Ashcroft, a fan of Jay-Z's "D.O.A.," contacted NO I.D. after seeing an interview with the producer explaining that artists sometimes ruin albums by focusing on sales.
NO I.D. scheduled a writing session with Ashcroft and the session extended to three days.
Though NO I.D. was surprised to get the call from Ashcroft, he has always experimented producing different styles of music. There are actually heavy rock overtones on "D.O.A." and another of his Jay-Z tracks, "We Run This."
Teaming with Ashcroft sounds like a good idea. Both artist and producer create introspective songs with thematic elements.
Last year, hip-hop producer Timbaland linked with Soundgarden lead singer Chris Cornell to produce Cornell's well-received Scream.
Representatives for Ashcroft's label did not immediately respond to confirm album title and release date.

The Verve's Richard Ashcroft buys live turkey for Christmas - Daily Gossip
Richard Ashcroft has bought (and kept) a live turkey – because his son didn't want a dead one at Christmas. "My son has just turned vegetarian," he explained, before revealing that he had purchased "the luckiest turkey in Ledbury". Local butcher Matthew Waller, of DT Waller & Sons, confirmed that the Verve frontman did actually buy the animal live. "It was quite an odd request to take the turkey home alive but we were happy to oblige," he said. Ashcroft and his family have since named the turkey Lucky (various).
